If there’s ever a season to shimmer, it’s the holidays; social gatherings, work parties, family celebrations. This is the time of year to pile on those posh touches that make you feel a little extra special. Vera Bradley Trend Reporter, Liz, stopped by to share three wardrobe pairings that will elevate your celebratory social calendar and showcase our new Winter Shimmer styles.
The key to adding shimmer to your look is to pick one or two items in your outfit to “bling out” and keep the rest simple. Here are three different approaches …
A metallic pant is quickly becoming an everyday basic. If you prefer a more subtle touch, try a bit of glitter on denim or a tweed pant with a metallic thread running through it. Here I went all out, choosing a gold metallic pant (silver will work just as well) and kept the rest simple and tailored with a black T-shirt and tuxedo jacket. Add a little pattern like a leopard print flat or pair it with a like-colored metallic flat to elongate your leg. You can also go simple with a black flat or loafer. Don’t be afraid to mix your patterns here, just remember to keep them in the same color family. Top this look off with a simple gold or silver necklace.
Bring spring into winter! Pull out a favorite spring dress, perhaps in the ever-popular mustard yellow we saw last spring, but white or off-white works, too. Add a sweater, cozy off-white maxi, classic black cardigan (love one with a Peter Pan collar), sheer black tights and black boots or flats. If you really want to go for it, may I suggest black glitter flats? Accessorize with a scarf and a statement ring.
Keep It Casual
For a casual look, go for your favorite pair of jeans, a white T-shirt and one of the season’s must-have tweed jackets (à la Chanel). Pick one up with a little metallic thread running through it for some extra shine. A comfy loafer, flat or oxford, a cozy scarf and an arm of bracelets seal the deal!
