Creating Festivity in Plume

Each year, the historic Embassy Theatre hosts the Festival of Trees, a majestic display of intricately adorned evergreens that signals the official start of the holiday season in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This year, Vera Bradley took home a Third Place finish in the Artificial Tree Design category for its Floral Nightingale-inspired entry, Festivity in Plume.

“I love decorating for the Festival of Trees,” Vera Bradley Senior Art Director Jennifer Roberts says. This was her eighth year participating in the event (her third with Vera Bradley), and while her experience might make translating a drawn design into a full illuminated display a little less intimidating, it still took the committee of three 4½ hours to place every feather and ornament in the perfect place.

“Floral Nightingale was an obvious choice for us this year,” Roberts says. “It told the best story when we translated it into a design.” That design included 33 birds, scattered ostrich feathers, silk flowers, sparkly glitter to reflect the light of the room, and decorative sticks (to symbolize bird nests), all precisely displayed on the canvas of a prelit 9-foot tree, dazzling with more than 1,000 lights.

The palette was unique, with lavender, deep purple, sage green and silver. “It was so beautiful and a nice change from the red, green and blue we see so often this time of year.” The punctuation mark was a Floral Nightingale tree skirt, crafted by the skilled hands of our local Vera Bradley sewers.

Festivity in Plume was on display until December 2, after which it was delivered to its new home, The Boys & Girls Club of Fort Wayne. All that sparkle and shine is such a great way to ignite the holiday spirit and share a piece of the season with others in the community.  Congratulations to all who participated in the Festival of Trees this year!

It was a beautiful tree; a lovely theme, and of course perfect with the Floral Nightengale fabric. And…. purple/lavendar is the new color in accessories 🙂
Would we expect anything else but perfect from the VB Team??
    Congrats on your award!
