Lake house gazing

When it starts to get hot (as it certainly has these past few days), we in the Midwest pack up on the weekends and head to the nearest lake for a little waterfront relief.

Vera Bradley Co-founder Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, who is known for her impeccable interior design talents, was kind enough to invite us in for a tour of two of her breath-taking homes on Lake Gage in Angola, Indiana.

She purchased the Green Gables property in 2005 and The Getaway in 2007. Both cottages were remodeled by Len Mysliwiec in accordance with Barbara’s signature style: casual, bright and cheery. The space is the perfect spot for the whole family to get together and have fun, relax and enjoy.

The setting certainly ignites our aspirations for lakefront bliss.

  12. Northwest Indiana girl here. I am so ready for the lake this year. I know exactly what your talking about when you say we all pack up and head to the lake and its only 45 mins to an hour away to heaven. This weekend will be a busy one with today being the last day of school for FWCS….. Here we come!!!!!!!

  14. How lovely!!! Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos. I especially love the “bunk rooms” and hope one day to incorporate that as my family grows (actually as my children grow up, marry and hopefully have lots of babies of their own that will need to come to Camp Grams!).

  15. Tranquility at it’s finest! Reminds me of their cottage “Birdie” in Seaside, Florida!;)

The design factor, that caught my eye….the array of colored trunks by each bed! I can’t even
imagine, staying there as a kid and picking out your bed, by a favorite color trunk! Then, being able to pack your clothes away in a special place while staying there….lake decor bliss!

Thanks for sharing this Lake gem!;)

Total relaxing with peace, a place you can sit anywhere with a Good Book, to read and study, a place that you can be close to Jesus in seeing His beautiful works without interruption, because each look is a look into his wonderland.
